Runway 14L/32R Extension
Eppley Airfield
Omaha, Nebraska
 |
In 2004 Thiele Geotech, Inc. completed a geotechnical exploration study for the Runway 14L/32R Extension at Eppley Airfield in Omaha, Nebraska. The project consisted of extending runway 14L toward the north by 1,300 lineal feet with Taxiway S and Taxiway Z extended to match the runway extension. Associated with the runway and taxiway pavements are extensions of several thousand feet of new storm sewers in the north drainage area. Numerous navigation aids were also constructed to accommodate the runway and taxiway extensions. High intensity runway lights on elevated structures were extended across the existing levee into the Missouri River floodway. Thiele Geotech, Inc. also performed materials testing and special inspections during the construction phase which completed in 2005.
