Harrison Street Sound Walls
Retaining Wall Design
135th St to 143rd St
Omaha, Nebraska
|
Thiele Geotech, Inc. completed a geotechnical exploration study for the proposed sound walls to be located along Harrison Street between 135th and 143rd Streets in Omaha, Nebraska. The project consisted of constructing three precast concrete panel sound walls of 580 feet, 1,680 feet, and 540 feet in length at 15 feet in height. The panels also act as retaining walls in various locations, retaining unbalanced soil heights of up to 8 feet. In addition, Thiele Geotech, Inc. provided retaining wall design of over 21,000 SF of facing for the south side of Harrison Street which was completed in 2005.

Oak Point Phase 6
Middleboro, Massachusetts |
This segmental retaining wall design project involved creating a buffer between a wetlands area and the development. The project consisted of 14 separate retaining walls ranging from 40 feet long to over 1150 feet long. The wall heights ranged from 3 feet walls to 25 feet tall for the longest wall with the total facing area estimated at 30,000 square feet. The walls were constructed using Stone Strong segmental retaining wall blocks. The smaller walls were constructed as gravity walls with no geogrid reinforcement while walls taller than 12 feet or with steep slopes above were reinforced with Synteen geogrids. Construction was completed in 2004.
